Default Ruger EC9S affordable carry handgun

I bought a Ruger EC9S at the Gettysburg Trading Post yesterday, immediately after having found out that it was available. They had 5 at the beginning of the week and were down to their last one when I left the store. The price is the hook on this one. GTP charged $239 and I think we'll see them for $225 and below before long.

It's a simplified (cheaper) version of the LC9S with manual safety, but I've been a fan of the Ruger LC9S, especially the Pro, since they came out. Great carry gun, small, reliable, decent trigger, adequate capacity and plenty accurate for it's intended purpose. Every one GTP had was black. Not sure if the colored versions can be produced at the same price so black is probably what you're going to get.

Hit the range today, put 4 magazines through it on a cold clear day, not a hitch. Totally reliable feed and function, plenty accurate. This is my new recommendation to students and those looking for an inexpensive carry option.

    FYI. No need to tip.

Subjetive question but what do you think about the trigger?
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

I think the price will get to $199 eventually.Tanners had the LC9s in limited quantities for $259 recently. Great gun for the price.

My shield 9 was $199. It has become my new price point to judge against.

A little off topic, but the OP mentioned “hitting the range”. Where did the OP shoot in the Gettysburg area? Was it a public range?

    Back on topic...

I’ve read a little about the EC9s. It seems to be pretty much the same gun as the LC9s save a few cosmetic features and cheaper sights. I'd compare the difference as similar to the difference between Kahr's P-series versus its C-series.

Ruger's been surprising me quarterly with their affordable offerings. Quality too.

Does any one else have insight on these? I’m looking at picking one up If I can find it.

I found the trigger as good as that on the LC9S Pro--perfectly acceptable for defensive use, and more. Took some long shots and the trigger was not a problem. They tend to be flowing in just now, I'm learning. The store I got mine from in Gettysburg has just received four more as of today, and I was at a shop up in Orwigsburg, above Cabelas, that just got in three. So they're probably going to be around, but are likely to go fast. I agree they'll probably settle at $199 or even below. Great buy.

Hey DGO, there are a lot of little ranges, like private clubs, all over the Adams County area. I'm in 3 of them. Not a lot more than a safe backstop, but enough to do some shooting at various ranges. That day I was at Adams County Fish & Game, also called the Ponderosa, on Jack Road near Ortanna. Another good one is Adams County Sport Handgunners Association, on Old Bermudian Road, near Gardners.
