Default Paperwork needed to transfer a pistol?

My half brother lives in PA. I live in Florida. Last year, I sold him a pistol that I had bought brand new about 4 years prior. The only "paperwork" I have is the point of sale receipt which doesn't list the firearm and a paper that shows record of the dealer buying said gun from their supplier. What will we need to provide to an FFL dealer in PA to complete this transaction?

You could ask the dealer what he wants to see; but basically, he only actually NEEDS evidence of your name and address; he needs more from the transferee, because he has to run the background check on him. He doesn't need proof that you own the gun.

Make sure that the FFL knows it's coming, that you know his transfer fee, and that you understand that if your brother fails the check, the gun has to transfer back to you (unless the dealer agrees to consign it), which will be awkward since a PA FFL can't directly transfer a handgun to an out-of-state resident. It will need to go to a Florida FFL for you, if that happens.

Thank you. That seems logical enough. A bit surprising that I don't need to prove ownership.

Do you need to prove ownership of the dining room table you're selling on Craigslist?

    Or your old lawn mower?

    Desk chair?

Any of the old tools on your table at a yard sale?

Then why would you think you need to prove ownership for this?

Possibly becase firearms are slightly more regulated than old lawn mowers, desk chairs, and old tools.

Hopefully the handgun is being directly shipped to a Pa FFL for transfer. Being residents of differing states, you can neither just give him possession of the handgun to bring back to PA nor can he bring the handgun into PA without violating Federal law.
    IANAL

Are you saying this sale took place last year and now you want to do the paperwork on it?
Who has the gun right now?

Those above mentioned items don't require an FFL.

The sale did take place last year. A situation arose in which we were kindly informed by an LEO that transfer of ownership must be completed. We were not aware of this, and as ignorance of the law is no excuse and we are law abiding citizens, we wish to transfer the weapon legally.
