Default Colt AR6951...Is it worth having a 9mm AR?

Saw one at Oaks today with 4 32 round mags and a Vortex SPARC on it for $900. Didn't seem like a terrible deal but I'm just not sure that it's a necessary addition for me. I absolutely hate the look of the Glock mag AR guns even though I could probably build one cheaper. Anybody who owns one please feel free to chime in with your experiences.

    Thanks

We have 9mm AR rifles at work,I just don't see the point of them.

Seems like multiple questions - maybe.

Are you asking about a Colt 9mm specifically, or 9mm AR15 in general?

I have no regrets on building mine.
I'd have built a pistol if I did it all over again simply because a 9mm seems more suited in a "SMG" role - close up.
That's not to say that I don't like my carbine, because I do - I just don't have the money for both or I'd have both.

I have a 9mm SBR and absolutely love it. Even better with my Liberty Cosmic can. Plus now I can run in PCC class in IDPA and USPSA. Im in for about 750 in my build and well worth it.

I have one and I enjoy it. No serious use for mine, I'd rather have a rifle caliber if I'm going to carry a rifle. I like being able to shoot steel at pistol ranges lots of fun and good practice. The recoil seems to be about the same as 5.56.

Echoing some others opinions: A 9mm AR would need to be a SBR. 16", or even 14.5" with pinned muzzle device, doesn't appeal to me.

We built a 9mm AR MG for the smaller ladies to shoot at the range, but I ended up shooting it more than our customers on our pistol caliber range. Cheap ammo, no recoil, cycles great, and I have the same training at half the cost of ammo. Besides allowing me to use cheaper ammo while training, I don't see the point of them.

the M&P MPX is pretty cool and you can probably build one for less than $900. I went to the Oaks Show to specifically look for AR parts and a few other things. I came away empty handed reasons being: parts are still cheaper online, too many people couldn't tell me where there parts where from (I've given the Chinese made stuff a chance and seen it fail). you can literally build an AR for little over $300 now, if you shop around I bet you can build a 9mm AR for $500 - $600. The ones with the straight mags were made by Kurts Customs Firearms and he died a while ago. They mags British sten gun magazines. If you shop around you might be able to find a lower.
