I absolutely hate the look of the Glock mag AR guns even though I could probably build one cheaper. Anybody who owns one please feel free to chime in with your experiences.

    Thanks
the M&P MPX is pretty cool and you can probably build one for less than $900. I went to the Oaks Show to specifically look for AR parts and a few other things. I came away empty handed reasons being: parts are still cheaper online, too many people couldn't tell me where there parts where from (I've given the Chinese made stuff a chance and seen it fail). you can literally build an AR for little over $300 now, if you shop around I bet you can build a 9mm AR for $500 - $600. The ones with the straight mags were made by Kurts Customs Firearms and he died a while ago. They mags British sten gun magazines. If you shop around you might be able to find a lower.

Necessary? Most of us passed necessary a dozen or 5 guns ago. 9mm ARs are fun, and fun is a reason in itself.

I'm not sure I know what an M&P MPX is,
Do you mean a Sig MPX?

If the 9mm AR is in the original SMG configuration I see some use for it, though I think there are better SMGs available. As a semi-auto carbine with the mandatory 16 inch barrel the point is sort of lost. if you have to go the longer barrel route for ease of legality and cost of the SBR, you might just as well stay with the standard 5.56mm carbine. The 9mm ammo isn't all that much more cost effective and you'll have a weapon that will have a much more effective range.

How about a .22 conversion kit in an existing .223 AR pistol for fun and training? Or even a dedicated .22 pistol upper? Even cheaper to shoot than 9MM.
Plus you don't have that ugly 9MM mag hanging down.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I already have 3 ARs in 556. If it was a blast to shoot and some degree of practicality,I'd probably search a little harder for one. Maybe if the right deal pops up I'll grab one. Kinda leaning more towards a SOCOM II now anyway.

    I have a SBR'd lower marked multi-caliber.
I plan on getting a 10.5" .223 upper and the
    same in 9mm.

I just sold my Colt 9mm AR to a friend. I already have an IMI Uzi A and B. So I saw the AR as redundant. Also, I have no ARs at all. The rifle shot well, but I prefer the Uzi for a pistol caliber carbine.
