They are fun and easy to shoot. A "pistol" type AR build or SBR is definitely the way to go. I have a QC10 9mm glock mag lower and their bolt hold open upper and love it. The only 9mm carbine I prefer is my MP5 clone. As if it isn't sexy enough already, the roller lock action "feels" and "sounds" a lot smoother as it cycles while shooting compared to the AR blow back.

    And gay as fuck.

On a serious note, they are nice shooting carbines.
I just can't take them seriously though with a 10 rd mag.
There are aftermarket 20 rd mags out now that actually work. Still - I've seen them - gayer than gay.

I had one. Funny - I sold it to buy an AR15.

I love AR's. I've got a boat load of them. However, I think throwing in a pistol caliber round into it isn't your best option.

There are too many guns nowadays specifically built around the pistol calibers for me to consider building a 9mm AR. I'd personally rather have a gun purpose-built for the subgun cartridge. MP5, CZ Scorpion, Sig MPX, etc.

If you like the AR ergo's/platform/manual of arms then the MPX is the one for you. My vote goes there. Smaller package, purpose built sub gun.
I'm only here for the wood c-rings.

    Good point.

Aside from the desire for commonality/familiarity between several carbines, there are some nice 9mm options out there.
I really like the CZ Scorpion after shooting one. A LOT.

For me it was a combination of keeping everything the same and the fact that I had many of the parts already laying around, making it an affordable option.

    Seems worth having to me.

And yes, as Duke said, "I want one" is all the justification one needs.
    That's why I have a .22LR AR15.
    That's why I have a 7.62x39 AR15.
    That's why I really, really want a 45ACP AR15!!!

Are they "worth having"? I guess it depends on how you look at things.
    How about a 460 rowland ar15?
