Default What's going on with the shortage of primers?

Seems there are quite a few merchant listings of unavailable, no back order, let me know when available, on various brands of primers, particularly small pistol. Components diverted for defense build-up? Government contracts? Likely 9mm? Or maybe the pistol primer machines also make the small rifle primers?

I saw one vendor with a pretty good supply at the show.

I bet they weren’t federal though.

Take some time off not reloading and make them yourself.

Have you checked Ready Aim Fire near you in Bristol? I found components there during the drought years.

Some components are easily available. In fact most are except for specialized powders. It’s the availability of things like federal small pistol that have dried up. Every tuned revolver or competitive shooter have those as their de facto number one. For whatever reason they’ve been dried up for quite some time

I was just at Cabela's down south of the border and they had primers stacked high and deep. CCI, S&B, Federal, Remington, etc.
