Default ***CHRISTMAS GIFT HELP*** SCOPE FOR DAD'S HUNTING RIFLE

    All

Dad just surprised me with a last minute request for a rifle scope for Christmas. It'll be going on a bolt action 30.06 for hunting white tail deer.

Need some suggestions, please! Time is running out.

Budget..., I'll entertain the wide range of prices up to, say, 500.

    Thanks!

Cannot go wrong with a Leupold 3x9 for PA woods. Dad deserves the best!

I agree, especially considering that he's nearing the upper end of life expectancy for liver transplant patients.

Is this something you would suggest?

I'm personally a huge fan of vortex, after trying several different brands.

The 2.5x10x44 would be perfect, imo.

The HS line uses the same glass as the ever so popular PST line (which is very popular in F class shooting). It just doesn't have an illuminated reticle. Can be had for around $400.

Justin, be careful about the leupolds, there have been a lot of fake Chinese floating around.
There was a thread about it a couple years ago IIRC.

I like the Leupold VX2 3X9. Used it out west and in PA, clear, gathers light pretty good. Throw in a set of rings and mounts he's GTG.

Buy them from a gun store and you'll get the real deal.
