Question Getting an LTC from another state

    Hello all,

I am looking to get a license to carry from another state with reciprocity with Pennsylvania. I used to have a CCW from Florida, but sadly, the disgraced and disbarred Kathleen Kane ended reciprocity with that state.

I have a misdemeanor marijuana possession conviction from 2013; this is the only thing on my record. However, AFAIK, that is enough to disqualify me. I am debating applying however and seeing what happens, as from my understanding, it is just a $19 fee and the worse the sheriff can say is 'no'. I don't mind open carrying, but the problem is driving; AFAIK, I cannot open carry a handgun in my car. So basically, I have to walk everywhere or leave it at home.

Does anyone know a state with reciprocity with PA where I would qualify now that florida has been nix'd?

    Thank you all,

    I greatly appreciate your help.

    you're fucked

you can't get a ccw from another state to circumvent Pa law

Pa does not allow a Pa resident to use a ccw from another state

You are not a "person". Out-of-State permits are only valid for "persons".

A PA resident has to have a PA permit to carry in state.

You can get any nonresident license you wish. You just can't carry in PA under said license if you are a resident. Residents need a PA LTCF to carry in state.

To be clear, you can have as many out state licenses/permits as you want to apply/pay for. But as a resident of Pa, you must now have a valid Pa LTCF. As a PA resident you cannot use out of state permits to carry in Pa regardless of reciprocity.

It’s known as the Hobson Mckown rule. A former PAFOA user who lost a court case that screw people using reciprocal licenses over.

There are a few threads about the ruling, here is one.

If your wife currently has a PA LTCF, she can conceal carry in PA and get as many non resident concealed carry permits in as many states that allow a non resident to get that states' permit. If she does not have a current PA LTCF, she can get as many non resident concealed carry permits as she wants as long as the state's she is applying to allows it - HOWEVER - if she does not have a current PA LTCF, she CANNOT conceal carry in PA, even if she has 20 concealed carry permits from other states. To conceal carry in PA one must have PA LTCF, be it as a resident or non resident (and IIRC the non resident LTCF looks just like the resident LTCF other than the carriers address).
