My son is shopping for a Smith .357 and recently came down with a case of sticker shock.

I forget what I paid for my 686, but it wasn't cheap. Well worth it, though. I don't feel outgunned when I'm carrying it.

This is in response to Lexington’s question on the LCR

I love mine . It’s the .38 special w/the Crimson Trace grips ....its light and easily carried in the front pocket of my cargo shorts in the summer but even now I carry with a Ruger/Galco stinger OWB ....it’s not even noticeable weight wise and CC wise on my hip. Recoil is stout with +P ammo ...I recently switched to Ruger ARX ammo ....77 grains and shoots well out of the short barrel light LCR , recoil is light and allows for a quick follow up shot . Trigger is one of the best DAO triggers I’ve shot clean crisp break every time and smooth. I’m looking at getting the 9mm LCR w/o the CT just because I like the 9mm ballistics better and I have autos in 9mm I can share ammo with.

Hogue grips, Wilson combat spring kit, and a plug for the internal trigger lock delete are shipping as I type for my 642 airweight.
Has nothing to do with HR 38, it's just that that little gun is so frigging easy to carry, it's the one gun I own that I cc.

I bought a very nice crossdraw holster for my Blackhawk and really like carrying it. It's quick to get to, quick action, very accurate, and I shoot it very well. Sure, it's a difficult reload, but, seriously, how many civilian gunfights go more than three rounds fired before one side goes down, or runs away? Cop gunfights are different because one side not only won't run away, they won't quit, they aren't paying for the ammo, and , for the most part, don't have any repercussions for hitting something you or I would get crucified for hitting.

What do you think of the LCR? I've been considering getting one for a back-up piece. Probably not any time soon, but I'm making a list of prospective options.

The LCR is a great pocket pistol. Light, and slim for a revolver. I've got one in .38 +P. The +P ammo is entirely manageable in such a light piece, but it will start bite if you make it through a 50 round box at the range.

Underwood's 100 grain monolithic/barrier blind extreme defender is a great option for a snubnose 38.

But I think the LCP2 in .380 is a better option with the equivalent Underwood or Lehigh ammo. Even more concealeable and more rounds at 6+1.
