I saw two WCOs at a parking lot in state game lands. They were sitting in their truck on opening day and I walked over to say hello before entering the game lands. They didn't check my license or rifle, but I imagine most that weren't legal wouldn't have walked up to them to say hello.

I've only been checked twice ever. Once about 15 years ago, and maybe 10 years ago. Not since.

Actually the second wasn't even a check. The WCO wanted to see if my rifle was loaded I pulled it out of the truck then he said OK without examining anything.

I couple years ago one was in the parking area of the SGL as we were getting ready to go in after lunch. Chit chatted a bit about not seen by deer in the morning. He gave some tips on the area. Never asked to check anything.

I was checked once, many years ago. I don't remember if he checked my license, but he checked my guns to make sure they were unloaded (shotgun and rifle).

But, since I hunt way back in the woods, I'm never going to encounter a WCO unless it's in the parking lot!

On one hand, that's nice. On the other hand, illegal stop and frisk? 'course I thought woods hunting clothes were pretty bulky, and what exactly would they be trying to frisk you for.

    Does this count?

I had parked at a Game Lands parking area to inspect a pole line that ran past it. When I returned the WCO was there and we shot the shit for a few minutes. ...I explained why I was parking there and he understood. (no places to safely pull off a vehicle for a mile or so each direction)

Multiple times. Once deer hunting when I was sitting at my Dad's truck with a doe I shot early in the AM.

And out pheasant hunting. I have seen them a few times. They would ask how we did, cute dog, etc. Never once did they check to see how many birds we had. This year they did ask to see our licences and didn't like I was carrying mine and my wife's (she was with us, but couldn't find her license holder, and temporarily loses EVERYTHING she touches). He basically said, we seem like very nice easy going people, but if she wasn't with us and I had both, he would have been all over us thinking I was trying to bag 4 birds a day via 2 licences. Makes sense. But she was with us. So its all good.

I have never been stopped in the woods. I see them driving around and that's about it. I didn't even see another hunter this past year that wasn't from our cabin.
