Re: CMP 1911 purchase requirements!
Think again! The last order for M1911 series (except for very few used by Special Ops) was 1945. Then there was the Army's general recall on them during the 1950s during which time they were disassembled, parts inspected and reassembled without regard to keeping original pieces intact. I doubt you'll even find any of the National Match pistols built by AMTU and Rock Island armorers.

Wish I could know what condition things I've never seen are in. You guys are better than Nostradamus. Maybe I should save my money and buy another Mosin like the cool kids.

Re: CMP 1911 purchase requirements!
I’m still wondering how these pistols currently in the market made it out of military service legally.
When were the last batch of 1911’s sold off to the public?
Or are today’s collectors buying up stolen guns that found their way home in duffle bags?

Your prerogative. As I've said before, they are expecting demand to be so high they'll have to sell via lottery. If sales start in 6 months as they hope, within 9 months there will profiteers flipping them on GB. But this isn't the first time I've been laughed at about 1911s on PAFOA:

Really hate that I made 2.5x my money on those pieces of shit.

The DCM did sell some released to them back in the 60's. As for the majority of them , who knows. Senior NCO's and officers could purchase them from after WWII till after Korea. Some were reimported prior to the GCA'68. The military never reported any stolen gun ser.nos to civilian authorities.

The break-open I wrote about is an Iver-Johnson. Probably too late to trace it. OSS became CIA, Iver-Johnson is gone.

I think the CIA could afford better guns than an Iver Johnson.
