I guess it speaks to the quality of this show lately when the thread is already 2 pages in and the only talk is about food. Maybe I'll skip this one.

Re: Oaks Gunshow 12/15,16,17 2017
I’ve got buddies who wouldn't miss an oaks show if their kids were getting married so I think everyone knows that the gun stuff is going to be as good as you can get for a gun show. It’s all the other hidden gems that people try to share.
Or this board is full of fat asses. One of the two

Re: Oaks Gunshow 12/15,16,17 2017
Wrong in that bringing up the available food is an indication of the quality of the show. We always gravitate to food or boobies. Plus the show is one of the better shows around. Gun shows are not what they used to be, they have evolved. Then there is the fact that a lot of people like the other stuff available.
Some people just plain suck.
If you're gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough.

My experience is the smallest shows, typically at VFDs or VFWs have the best food, and the bigger shows tend to have the poorer food deals, quality and price wise. Not universal, but darn close. I know a couple of VFD shows, I will go to for the food alone, along with some bigger ones, like Bloomsburg for instance where the animal shelter folks run it. When the food is the venue itself, usually crappy food at crappy prices.
When they allow some independent food folks, like the pickle and jerky and crab cake folks it adds to the show for me. I was at one show where I asked the pickle guy if I could get a pickle on stick and I was told he was only allowed to sell 'packaged' lots, no sticks. Bummer! (but a napkin worked) I like the Forks show, but the food is not all that great, about middle of the pack, but at least on Saturday the Farmer's Market is a close alternative. Oaks has a lot of nearby options, but not walkable as a rule.
Nice things about these threads is getting new ideas to check out. I heard good things about the Perkiomen cafe, (http://www.theperky.com/) for instance and checked it out online. Keep those suggestions coming, this is not a secret fishing or hunting spot! What do youse, yinz, y'all think?Last edited by gghbi; December 4th, 2017 at 11:02 PM.

Deals are there , but hidden amongst so many tables full of over-priced carp, it's like looking at a Where's Waldo picture. Really , I zombie out wading thru these big shows. I try to at least scan every table with Terminator-vision , but with so many gawkers and slack-jawed yokels standing in the way , stealing oxygen and stinking up the place , I lose focus halfway thru the first hall. That's why I like Friday nites!
I don't speak English , I talk American!
