I want to buy a 9mm. AR pistol, so I can put a shockwave blade and a red dot on it!!
My LGS is seemingly clueless, so I came here!!
My question is, can anyone here help me with a good entry level gun that I can build on?!?!??? thanks

Re: 9mm AR pistol
I built a 9mm carbine and I sort of wish I had done it as a pistol. Not that I don't want BOTH eventually, but if I had to do it again and only had money for one, I'd build a 9mm pistol.
The biggest decision you need to make up front is whether you want to use Colt pattern SMG mags, or Glock mags.
You can buy dedicated 9mm lowers for either. For Colt mags, you can also opt to use a mag block (mag well adapter) in any standard AR lower. The plus is that it's not permanent and should you choose to use that lower for another caliber later, you simply remove the mag block. The minus is the initial cost - some mag blocks can cost over $100.
I got lucky and got a mag block on clearance for $30 and used the lower I already had on hand.
If not for that, I'd probably get a dedicated 9mm lower.
I like the idea of using Glock mags, but I hate the way they look sticking out at an angle, so my preference is Colt pattern lowers/mags.
PSA always has 9mm uppers and lowers on sale and right now with Christmas sales, you could get very lucky.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: 9mm AR pistol
OP, why 9MM?
Pro's:
-Cheaper ammo than 5.56
-Ability to shoot on indoor pistol ranges (if the range permits).
-Ability to shoot steel at close range (7+ yards).
-Mild recoil
Con's:
More expensive to purchase than equivalent 5.56 AR pistols
Less of a choice and availability of components than 5.56
Less punch than 5.56 and lacks "fireball" effect
Need of custom lower or mag adapter and limited selection of magazines
Funky lookingLast edited by Hawk; November 30th, 2017 at 01:55 PM.

Re: 9mm AR pistol
Get behind a 9mm carbine. That answers the why. Everyone who has ever shot my mpx has wanted to buy one. It’s a ridiculous amount of fun

I run a 5 inch 9mm from these guys. Made in Pa too. I built my own 9mm Colt mag lower to run with this upper. I use it in PCC class fpr IDPA.

Re: 9mm AR pistol
Build your own. I've got 2 pistols and one is going to be made into a SBR. They are easy to build. Buy quality and you'll never be sorry or replacing parts. There are plenty of threads on the interweb that will help you with the build.
Good Luck!

Re: 9mm AR pistol
I have a New Frontier lower that uses 9mm Glock mags and I love it and their matching upper with bolt hold open. The barrel is a 5.5" from Ballistic Advantage.

Military Arms Channel (MAC) just posted this video.
Pretty cool although pricy
