Apply for concealed carry permit question

Don’t know how other states will view what is typed on the license. But, PA law states the purpose of the license is to carry concealed on or about ones purpose or in a vehicle. It says nothing about the “reason” for needing such license.

§ 6109. Licenses.
(a) Purpose of license.--A license to carry a firearm shall be for the purpose of carrying a firearm concealed on or about one's person or in a vehicle throughout this Commonwealth.

Years ago (before shall-issue) , I was told self-defense is the correct answer and only one applicable as you do not need a LTCF for the other listed reasons.

That's what the Sheriff told me too the first time I got mine. Except he said to check which ever ones apply but make sure that self defense is one of them.
