Very sad indeed. Let's just take it as a reminder to always be prepared to defend our life.

Very sad, once again this rings true: "When seconds count, Police are minutes away."

I actually grew sick reading it. I can not fathom not having the ability to defend yourself. Do not get me wrong, you must call 911, from a legal standpoint to cover your ass. But, to actually depend on it, solely, as the line of defense between the Good and the Bad is ludicrous.

As to the OP, may the Lord have mercy on her soul.

Be safe (and defend yourself, it is the ultimate civic duty!).

Utterly disgusted. I can't believe the Chief is standing behind the dispatcher. I don't think she is as responsible as the killer, but the dispatcher clearly behaved poorly. Why were there not police officers ready to recieve this woman and her pursuer.

Very sad indeed. However, this story begs the question, why didn't she keep driving until things were sorted out with law enforcement? Sadly, I don't think the news media has provided accurate information about these events.

WHAT! What facts did the media not get accurate? The 911 call is taped. The end of it is on video. This was a woman who was fearful for her children's safety and tried to get help. She assumed that her call for help to 911 would be answered. It is disgusting to try to lay any blame at her feet. She could have continued to drive, but she was in a state of panic and was expecting public servents to actually serve the public (her) in their time of need. That is a reasonable assumption. Sure she should have had a pistol to protect herself, but this guy got the drop on her. She would not have had time to get to her firearm. She should have had one in her purse so that when she got in her car she could have it ready when she got to wherever she ended up so she could protect herself. Waiting for the police is dangerous. Going to the police station for police assistance is brilliant. She protected her children and was going to a place that should have protected her. She called and was asking for police to be prepared. She should have been able to drive into the parking lot to a group of waiting officers who were taking cover behind their cars and had weapons at the ready.

"She prevented a bloodbath. She was smarter than everybody in this case," said Edward Kerr. "She did everything right. She did their job for them. She took him to be arrested at the station."

maybe the dispatcher expected her to walk him in and book him.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.
