    6 is a nice magnification for all around, IMO. I have one on my .308 and I like it better than a 4x. Still, I prefer variable overall. Nice to have the range of adjustment. I've shot deer at 25 yds and rang steel out at 700 with that 6x. Works well.

    It's an overly broad question. It really depends on what your needs are. I think you are safe buying a variety of popular name brands. Leupold, Zeiss, etc...
