Default H&R 20 gauge single Shot

Hi, new to this forum, I just purchased a
H&R 20 gauge single Shot, the only markings
On it Are Harrington and Richardson Arms Co,
Bay State, it has a 28 inch barrel, Case Hardend
Receiver, SN# A896896, also on the barrel it indicated
It had a choke. (Worcester,Mass) can any one tell me
The chamber size and year of Mfg on this piece?
    Thanks

From what I have read, the "A" indicates 1940 as the year of manufacture.
