Re: Discussion: Point Blank "Self Defense" - or not?
I've always been taught to shoot to "stop", not to shoot to "kill" or "wound". I was also taught to shoot center mass.
I can only guess that the shooter was aiming at his face to attempt to further deter the aggressor. On the flip side, shooting someone in the face can be a sign of extreme anger or punishment.Toujours prêt

The dead guy had baggy clothes that could easily have concealed a weapon, and we don't know what he said to the shooter before he got shot. For example, would the situation be clearer if the dead guy had said "I'm sick of you and I'm going to shoot you dead right now with my gun"?

Looked to me like the guy was about to bum rush the shooter.
After backing away for 2 minutes with the guy increasingly closing on him, my guess is it's a good shoot.
A lot of information needs to be filled in to fully understand what happened. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Re: Discussion: Point Blank "Self Defense" - or not?
Well, we don't get to see what caused the man to retrieve his shotgun in the first place,. That would be nice to know. He does appear to be calm and attempts to disengage multiple times during the video.
The guy who was shot was clearly angry and aggressive, despite facing a clear threat of death. I doubt that his contributions to society will be greatly missed, but perhaps that is unfair.
It does appear that perhaps the man with the gun was a hair early on the trigger, but it also appears that the dead man was destined to be such. But again, on both counts, more evidence would be necessary to be sure.
Since dead men tell no tales, there is only one side of the story to hear. I find it likely that given the evidence in the video, along with a reasonable testimony, the man is not guilty.
