someone told me that there are mountain lions in pa.I'm trying to see if any long time pa residents and hunters heard of mountain lions being in pa or maybe have seen tracks or seen a mountain lion its self.

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
I know a guy that found a skull. he showed it to someone from the game commission. They tried to shoot down the idea, that it might be a mountain lion.

I believe so! I live near the the Chestnut Ridge and some neighbors up the ridge have claimed to see them in their yards...one witness was the former police chief!
If I ever see one, you'll have proof! LOL

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
Yes! Without having you all think I am nuts, My Wife, Father and I (along with my two very young, at the time, children) saw one on the family farm about 8 years ago. I forwarded a narrative to the PGC and they felt I was mistaken. I know what I saw, I do not need some guvment employee to tell me. I told them I will send them picture of it next time, just ignore the blood
Be safe.

I've heard no, but I wouldn't doubt it if they found one. There are still large parts of PA where these cats could hide.

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
some reading on the subject:
http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/v...?A=11&Q=156971
now, i like a government cover-up conspiracy as much as the next guy, but what would be the motive for denying mountain lions exist in PA if they really do?
if a population of mountain lions does still exist in PA, how could there not be any verifiable evidence since the late 1800's?
anyway, maybe there really are mountain lions still out there in PA, but i, for one, don't believe it.

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
I have seen a mountain lion in PA, several years ago. It was also seen by many other residents of Upper Uwchlan Township near Marsh Creek State Park, and the PGC was on alert to keep an eye out for it. When I saw it, it was having its way with a flock of geese near a pond in an industrial park. I stopped the car and the kids and I watched as it stalked the geese, than attacked. I remember thinking if it lives in the area it must be one well fed cat, because the geese are so plentiful and stupid around here.
I didn't know at the time that the PGC was trying to trap it, and found out by sheer coincidence when I called them a few days later about a deer that had been hit by a car and was near death on my property. They came to euthanize the deer, and when I made a crack about dropping it off at March Creek for the mtn lion, they had a fit because I didn't call to report the sighting. I assumed they were indiginous to the area, and like the bears that occasionally wander into a neighborhood, mtn lions were just another species rapidly being displaced from their territory by urban sprawl. The PGC guys told me that a lot of cats and dogs have been reported missing over the past few months, and although a mtn lion might run when they encounter a human, if they're hungry, they'll stalk us instead. Live and learn. You are a straight white man. You don't get to be the victim, sweetie.
