Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
No offense intended, but...
I have hunted all my life.
I will say up front that I do think we have had or do have a few in the state that have been spotted and occasionally photographed.
However, I look at it from this stand point.
I have entered into and walked out of the woods (remote locations) countless times with not enough light to even see my hand in front of my face. I'm not fast or strong compared to a cougar/mt. lion, in fact I would be easy easy prey as with ALL hunters in this state. When you consider how often and plentiful we are as humans it begs the question of, why haven't one of us been killed or atleast attacked/knocked down?
I forgot to add, in locations in this country where populations have been proven to exist, people have been attacked and it has been documented that they will attack humans under the right conditions.
Just food for thought, and good food when you look at it with probability and statistics in mind.Last edited by beerhunter; September 24th, 2008 at 03:04 PM.

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
Oh Geesh! next you'll want us to use logic, reason and the scientific method to debate this too.... lol.
I gotta say though (And I said this MONTHS ago to a friend of mine) that for all the #'s of trail cameras out there nowadays, I find it VERY DIFFICULT to believe someone hasn't captured footage or frames of mt. lions if they truly do inhabit PA. How often do they get photographed in the western states where they are established....?Girls, Guns and Gears......What more could you ask for in life?!

Re:My Apologies to Mr. Warner....
...for referring to him as a "nut-job" in a previous post. Proof of their existance was verified personally this past week when i was attacked and maimed by a cougar in Lycoming Co. Thurs. nite into Sat. morning... Scot, i am truly sorry. You were right. lol!

To paraphrase Napolean Dynomite,
Maybe it's a Liger... they are half lion-half tiger and bred for their prowess in magic. Who's to say they don't have escape spells?Zone1
My Glock does 1d6+3 dmg, but my 18 dex makes up for that...

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
Spent a lot of time camping, hunting and hikeing, but never saw tracks or anything.Pa. is large and it is possible. There was one tjme in 1978,I packed down from a friends camp, camping for two weeks.Came across a fresh kill,a large buck. The whole area was tore up along with all the brush. The deer, not much left.I could not tell what got the deer but it could've been a cat?

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
A friend of mine caught one on his trail camera. I seen the picture, and it was definetley a mtn lion. The pic was taken at night by a rocky outcrop in Fayette county. Unless he was pullin my leg, which I doubt, it was for real.
