Re: completing earlier work .38 Spec.
I love reloading straight=walled cases, like....ummm....my .38s !! Recently I did a couple hundred rds of 158 SWCL over a light load of Unique(Speer manual) ..real soft shooter and accurate for practice from a 2" SP101 .357 or my Smiths.

Re: completing earlier work .38 Spec.
I wasn't real happy with Thursday's results. So I thought I 'd try it again since I had a few of Ron's 158s and 147s left. Note I really have to give Mr. Steel Valley Casting his props on the 147s they're actually a 9mm bullet upsized to .358" dia. for use in .38 Special. The last couple of Speer manuals has loads listed for them "Cowboy Action" shooting in .38 Special. But the data I used was for a 140 gr. Lead bullet from Accurate Arms Reloading Guide.
FWIW, all loads were measured on my new RCBS scale and powder trickled in if needed. I set the scale to zero normally then used Lyman check weights to at or near the weight to be thrown as a check.
Todays tests were shot outdoors using the standard optical sensor array. I really cannot account for the differences between today's work and the 30th's results. What is presented in this pdf is today's data tacked onto that for the 30 Nov. testing. I am happy that I've got usable loads for A#5, but I'm disappointed that A#2 didn't quite make it. Though in fairness it does meet the requirement for the CURRENT IDPA standard.
Ron, I didn't try wringing them out for accuracy today. That'll come later.
