    Default Is .357 Sig dead?

I was really interested in .357 years ago. Particularly because you could use conversion kits to go between that and .40.

But I never ended up finding a .40 I liked so I gave up.

Now a few years later, nobody talks about .357 Sig. I know it was expensive compared to other popular handgun calibers.

Is it essentially a dead caliber?

I'd hardly call it a dead caliber. Maybe a niche caliber for those who want higher 9mm performance.

Now 9x25 Dillon is dead. But thats .357 Sig Magnum. I think thats the specs the Sig should have been made to in the first place.

Just like a lot of other "niche" calibers, it will come around again and be popular.
Right now 9mm is big, but I remember about 10 years ago people wanted .40 for they're EDC and poo-poo'ed the 9mm.

    Things happen in cycles.

Me personally, I carry the .357Sig round in my Sig-229 and Ive always been a big fan of it.

dead? no...as popular as some of the big "names"? surely not. it's more of a niche, as has been previously said...kinda like 41 magnum.

just seemed it was superfluous. there were a gazillion calibers out there...had it been marketed differently, it'd probably have been hotcakes.

I know 2 game commission officers that carry the .357 Sig in Glocks model 31. The one fellow told me he has put everything down from rabid coyotes and racoons to bear with his.

Do you know which ammo they prefer for the .357Sig while on duty?

I wouldn't say it's dead, not like the .45GAP. I have a Sig 226 with 40 and .357 barrels. I love the .357 sig, but I will admit that I probably would not have purchased one had it not been for the .40cal conversion. IMO the prohibitive cost of ammo is the biggest downside. Some major law enforcement agencies are still using them and that's probably what's keeping it alive to some extent.

Absolutely love this round. If it weren't for reloading I probably wouldn't shoot it. But a 124 grain bullet moving 1500fps is very nice
