Problem is the LTCF is administered by the individual county sheriffs (and Philly PD), not the PSP. And while they are all supposed to be on the same page , we know they are not , yet.

There's an argument that photocopying the license is "counterfeiting" (maybe it's not a great argument, but it's there). When it's revoked, they want it back (the original, not a copy), because having it makes it look like you're still licensed. So the license itself has value, like stamps. You can't make exact color copies of stamps, either.

That being said, I'd make a couple of good copies of the original anyway (hey, I'm a wild man), put those copies somewhere safe, and carry the original. Maybe stamp each copy "COPY" so it's not an exact duplicate. If a cop unlawfully seizes my license, THEN I'd can carry a copy as a 2nd-best option, unless and until my LTCF is formally revoked.

If you do this and are arrested for counterfeiting, remember that I warned you. Life is about balancing risks, so make your choices.

    .
The argument would only be good if the intention was to deceive or defraud.

I agree with Gun. There is no issue unless one is trying to pass off the photo copy as THE origional document.

We use to photo copy U.S. currency as evidence, but we never tried to pass off the copies and buy donuts with it.

You would be showing the copy in response to a lawful demand to see "the license". All you'd have to do to get in trouble is show the copy and say the word "here".

At the bottom of my birth certificate , it say "Unlawful to reproduce by photograph or photocopy!'' or something like that. But every job I ever had wanted/made a copy of it.

Read it again, it says "photostat", so don't use a photostat machine and you're good to go.
