10mm worth it?
I own .45, 9mm, .357 mag handguns. I'm considering a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm. I used to shoot .41 magnum, and really liked the ballistics.
I know that the 10mm is not a true .41 magnum, but their range of ballistics does overlap some.
I'm looking at the typical factory ammo of 10mm defensive loads, and I see the 'gold standard' for the Delta Elite, the Winchester Silvertip, launching a 175 gr. slug at ~1200 ft/s from the Delta.
My Ruger P90 can handle the hottest .45 +p rounds, and I see Remington and Federal .45 auto offer 185 grain slugs do 1,130 ft/s.
10mm: 175 gr. @1,200 ft/s
.45 auto: 185 gr. @ 1,130 ft/s
Is the 10mm enough additional 'punch' that would justify buying a Delta Elite, and have to purchase more ammo?
Thanks

Re: 10mm worth it?
Buffalo Bore Heavy 10mm Ammo - 180 gr. Jacketed Hollow Point (1,350fps/M.E. 728 ft. lbs.)
And 1 more round
So the answer is yes

Re: 10mm worth it?
You cannot safely shoot the Buffalo Bore 10mm stuff in the Delta Elite.
I'm restricting the 10mm to the non-boutique, factory ammo (Federal, Winchester, Remington, Speer, Hornady). The original Norma load was a 180-200 gr. bullet @ 1,200, which isn't far from the Winchester Silvertip.

Buffalo Bore uses the Colt Delta Elite as a test gun.

Re: 10mm worth it?
I got a handload Hornady 155gn xtp going 1350fps @627ft/lbs if my calculations are correct.
I'm using a Rock Island Armory pistol"It seems that the Constitution is more or less guidelines than actual rules"

Justify.
Cute.
You want one. You have forever. That's justification enough.

Re: 10mm worth it?
50AE is a boomer. I've had people say no more after one round. Always makes me smile. 45-70 derringer hurts. Still collecting boxes of S&W460 haven't shot it yet. One of the loadings is $70 a box of 20.
The point being: If you don't spend the money on a cool gun, you'll spend the money on something else you will never remember. Then one day you wake up dead and all these people are ripping through your stuff to see what they can get for it. Enjoy every day. You only live once.
