    If what's been said about that department is true then I doubt that very many "big name" guns will be melted.

    For god sake, you guys don't believe steam generation fire goes over 2000 degrees do you? They ain't melting steel in there. They used to take hem to a steelmill to melt them down. The good ones never saw the furnace.

    Actually 2700 degrees F was typical for the hottest areas in the coal fired steam generators I worked at. Now a days they try to keep it down to reduce NOx formation if I recall correctly.

    You are not going to get close to 2700 degrees F with coal unless you are force feeding a lot of oxygen to it.
