Re: Upper Darby police melting down guns
If would be funny if one of our local members here would attend the next township meeting and ask them to explain how much electricity they're going to generate by melting these guns.

Re: Upper Darby police melting down guns
My suggestion would be to give any useable and recovered firearms to unarmed victims and give them free training, free background check and free LTCF if qualified for one. Did I mention one free box of ammo? I would be happy to give to the fund.

Destroy the evidence. After the cops steal your gun and sell it,
they claim they melted it. They've been caught before but obviously
nothing happens to them.

Re: Upper Darby police melting down guns
Why aren't they doing what they are supposed to do - run the serial numbers through a BATFE trace and return them to their rightful owners? If their rightful owners are felons, or the owners just don't want them returned, then auction them to FFL's. They'd generate monies that could be used to enhance the police force (or in the case of dirty cops, enhance their wallets ).

Re: Upper Darby police melting down guns
Used to live in Upper Darby years ago after I came off active duty (it seems everyone in this area was forced by circumstances to move to UD during one life transition or another) and as volunteer fire/rescue, I dealt with the UDPD a lot and some were also members of the firehouse. There may have been a bad egg or two, but most were good, hometown guys. If what you report is true, that's a big change from my experience with them.

Re: Upper Darby police melting down guns
Simple math.. well Leftie political math.
Auction firearms off the FFL's and LTCF holders = firearms gone and money generated for the PD and town.. blows under the bridge with maybe a quip in the local papers
Melt down firearms = some can disappear into the hands of friends of friends... town has to pay for disposal of waste and possibly smelter.. more energy used than could ever possibly be made.. public fed, and believes BS that smelting firearms produces energy and is good for environment because that is what they want to believe... deadly dangerous GUNS can never again run around and commit crimes when not under supervision or locked up... major political points for the crazy Left politiciansRetired US Army

Re: Upper Darby police melting down guns
Its true alright. I posted a thread about an indecent last year where they took a friends gun
and apparently sold it. After threats from a lawyer and judge ( i think cant remember) the gun showed
up in a used hoagie bag all beat up.
One story I was told the other day, the cops took 12g's off a store owner,
The money mysteriously disappeared when the guy went to get it back..
