    What if you put a muzzle brake on your .308 and a good recoil pad. Also if you you reload you could get that recoil down pretty good and still shoot a .30 cal. bullet. I'm not opposed to a 223 with a good bullet but a .30 cal. bullet is better. In that 223, a 62 gr. Fusion bullet should be good as would a 60 gr Barnes bullet or a Nosler 60gr. partition bullet.

    The difference between a 20" barreled AR and a 16" barreled AR is the ability to penetrate steel plate armor, that seems a significant enough velocity difference to me.

    I finally learned what a muzzle brake can do for recoil and muzzle climb when I put one on two different rifles last year. (one a 7.62x39 AR15)
    What an amazing difference. I was so impressed, I bought a third for another rifle.
