I have bolt guns, I just like the AR platform. I practice more with them then I do my bolt guns.

I can understand that. Do what makes you happy. I love the AR. Hopefully the PAGC will actually LISTEN to the public and amend the laws.

Make a pump action upper. Thread the carport for a set screw and blob weld over it. Then a simple rod to go where the gastube was. I use a pump action ak to hunt.

It would have to be non field modifiable. And you'll get hassled by the game wardens since all they would see is a scary black Rifle. But I do believe it'd be legal.
I also believe a company out of the UK makes uppers that are side charging single shots.

Technically incorrect. All the law specifies is that you can't use semiautomatic for anything other than varmints (I believe) at this time.

The entire "non-field modifiable" is from a PGC internal memo that has no legal standing. If a bunny cop did write someone up for it, the judges would toss it since it is not a violation of the law.

Unless you enjoy arguments and taking your chances before a local District Justice who probably hates you, I wouldn't do it.

The fish cop would be justified in citing you.

Then, assuming that he hasn't confiscated your rifle, you have the daunting task of proving that your rifle is properly modified, inside a gun-free courtroom. I had to get some knives into court as exhibits once, and another time I brought in a toy gun. Neither incident won me any points with the judges.

Sure, you could pay a certified firearms expert to test it, write up an evaluation, and appear in court for you. That's probably around $5,000. And you'll need a lawyer, because the GC will object to admitting his testimony, and you'll need to push back.

Per the laws, sure, your single-shot rifle is probably no longer a "semi-automatic rifle". Just like it's not legally possible for millions of Mexicans and Guatemalans and Canadians to sneak into the USA and stay here in violation of our laws. And the IRS and the FBI are politically-neutral organizations, under the clear statutory language. Reality can be unpleasantly different.

There was a thread a few years ago about this except using a modified SKS so that it acts as a manual repeater . I was curious about the legality of it so I called the Pagc and asked . There response and thinking of it was that that person would be cited because it was originally and still was a semi auto carbine even though it was manually cycled . Do what you want But it's gonna be hashed out in court and be decided on by a judge that prob don't know Anything about how a firearm operates nor does he probably care , IMO it just ain't worth the time or the cost to have a pissin match about it with the wco in front of a judge.

Thank you for the responses. Since I don't want to spend any time in court, I think I'll stick to my bolt guns. Hopefully the PAGC incorporates semis for big game in the near future.

Hence the reason I picked up a cheap Savage Axis in 5.56 and did some simple mods.. nice shooter, not a tack driver at 300 yrds.. but I don't think I could drive tacks any longer anyways..
