Re: Dispatching Wounded Animals
Ive hunted squirrel for years with a 12 gauge. Always used 7 1/2 or 8 bird shot. Ive also hunted them with a 22lr. I prefer a 22lr but depends on how thick the woods are. A 12 gauge using 7 1/2 shot doesnt do anymore damage than a 22lr. No you want to see damage, shoot them with a 17 HMR. Ive seen them literally blown in 2 pieces by a 17.

I like the stomp method to dispatch small critters quickly. I never had to do it to something I shot but I have had to put down a couple pet rabbits many years ago. I also use it for mice caught on glue traps.
Some people just plain suck.

Re: Dispatching Wounded Animals
Need to dispatch your dog or cat? Penna law now has criminalized dispatching a dog or cat. We are forced to take it to a vet and have it euthanized. Think the vets had anything to do with the pa$$age of this law ?? Or did PETA hand them a windfall...

Re: Dispatching Wounded Animals
Squirrels I always whack in the head with a stick before picking them up. My dad always did it. He had one wake up one time when he picked it up and almost got bit.
