Lackawanna Carry renewal

How do we get our Carry Permits renewed? Ours are expiring soon and we need them renewed.

You apply at the Lackawanna sheriff's office (or any satellite offices if they use them) the same as you did for your current permit.
The sheriff's office normally accepts and processes permit applications during regular courthouse hours on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Go to the courthouse in Scranton with your money. You will be in and out with your permit in less time than it takes you to find a parking space in downtown Scranton.

The only issue with Lackawanna County is they do not send out the 45 day renewal notifications...so don't wait to get it. I mentioned it in small talk the last time I went to get my LTCF renewed. The deputy who was working the LTCF window said the office does not have the staffing to send out the notices especially as of late...they are getting lots of non-resident applications. While it is technically against the law to not send tout the notices, 1) personal responsibility should trump needing a notice and 2) I will trade notice for immediate license. There are probably many counties which send out the notice but use part or all of the allowable waiting period.

I got a renewal notice from Lackawanna county. The process there is very painless. If there is a crowd plan on waiting your turn, but they process them very quickly, they call you up, you smile for the camera and you are on your way as soon as it comes out. The new Sheriff in Lackawanna county (last 6 years) is a Democrat but VERY Pro gun and Pro 2A. When it was required he gave no problems signing off on any ATF forms.

Process is fast and easy - I did get a renewal letter in the mail from the sheriff though which was helpful

I don't think the office closes at 3:15 but I believe hey stop taking new applications at 3:15 so that people don't walk in at 4:00 when they are ready to leave. I could be wrong on that theory thou.

Yea that's probably true. We got there just before 3 and the guy that was there before us was there for over 2 hours waiting the the deputy to get her computer fixed. When she finally got it fixed he was called to the window with his application and the deputy asked him where he lived and he said a town in Luzerne county... That was messed up! He went to the wrong county courthouse. Over 2 hours for nothing!

We got ours within minutes.
