I will be taking a course this weekend. The premise is that you don't need to use sights at all in close combat situations.
This is the guy who is teaching it.

Edit. I have a tough time with sights anyway because I wear glasses for distance and can't see the sights anyway without reading glasses. (can't wear bifocals)

I have factory night sights on all my handguns. They've worked so far in all my night-time self defense situations.

Factory 3 dot sights on my Beretta 92FS.

I'd consider other sights if it weren't such a pain in the butt to get the front sight drilled out.

I guess I'm the odd one. Mine all still wear what they came from the factory with, usually three White dots. I never really worried about night sights. I practice point shooting at close distances. I figure any encounter that happens in a defensive situation is going to be close and fast. Two things that are going to preclude me from establishing a good sight picture anyways.

Yes some are getting small enough. BUT if you wear prescription glasses esp. for astigmatism BE SURE to wear your glass when shooting! If you don't instead of a dot you'll see a red wooly caterpillar!
