A little while ago I bought a used Savage Model 24D Series m, 22WMR over 20 Ga.

Bought it on impulse. Had one when I was a boy on the family farm ... sometime in the late 50's or early 60's.

It has an appallingly bad rear sight. Stamped sheet metal "V" notch with a 5 step elevator. The "V" notch is attached to the 22 barrel in a dovetail notch cut into the barrel. I want to upgrade this arrangement.

Does anyone here have any experience on this? The 22/410 I had way back then had the factory sight removed from the barrel and a Williams peep sight attached to the receiver. (I think the peep sight was made for the side of a Model 94 receiver.) Yeah, every time I broke open the barrel to load it the sight picture changed. Good enough for crows at 10 or 15 yards. Anyway, I am wondering about an adjustable "V" or buck horn in the dovetail. So... comments? Opinions?
