My experience has been that nickel cases split at a much higher rate than straight brass. I still reload it, I just keep my eye on them a little more.

For me nickel is good for keeping hot loads seperate and for not making that green verdigris stuff when they stay in leather loops like on a gun belt or whatever.

Certainly my thoughts as well. My guess is the idea is that less exterior corrosion over time means slicker feeding when stuff hits the fan. Loading it for HP stuff also is lower volume to shoot so the issues of the brass wearing and cracking isn't as much of a concern.
