Re: Some work on .38 Spec.
2.5 grains of titegroup under a 148 wadcutter is all I load. Absolute superb target 38 load.

Re: Some work on .38 Spec.
UMMM. Not entirely! My NRA Conventional pistol load for .38 Spec. was a 148 gr WC (HB OR DB) and 2.8 grs of Bullseye powder. After acquiring a Clark built Gov't Model I started using the .45 for Centerfire matches. My load for that was a 200 gr. Lead SWC ahead of 4.5 to 5.0 grains of 231. Those were indeed target loads. My pistol for .45 Matches was a National Match M1911 built by the Armorers at the AMU, shot GI Hardball only.
BTW the last time I tried to chrono the .45 load I was barely getting 650 fps. My goals now for .38 Spec is to hit the old IDPA Power Factor of 125,000. Bear in mind that had been reduced to 105,000 several years ago and I believe I heard that recently it had been down-graded again to 95,000 because factory ammo was being loaded so weak these days. Anyhow with the 147 gr. RN bullet by Steel Valley I would need a solid 850 to 851 fps. to hit that goal. NOT a target load! For 9mm the Power factor is 125,000 and for .45 ACP 165,000.
