Actually going to look at some ARs in the store today after work. Have my eyes on the Smith and Wesson sport 2 optic ready model and the Ruger. Would prefer the Ruger were flat top too. Anything else I should look at I the flat top camp?

Windam makes a decent one and should be priced similarly to the other two. Really a Colt might not be a whole lot more right now. I haven't really priced complete rifles for a while though.

Is colt actually better? My experience with colt products is mixed at best.

Not really...you just get to say you have a Colt.

Years ago I had a very low opinion of the AR platform, it came as a slab side...this was before I realized what I had.
I didn't like it and sold it.

Then Obama got elected the first time...had one before January.
It didn't stop there, now there's four complete kicking around and a bin of parts.
AR's, the small block Chevy of the gun world.
