The Target of Gun Control 30 Years Ago
I found this little treasure in my attic earlier this year. I figured that now would be a good time to share this with others.
Thirty years ago the anti gun mission was to ban easily concealable handguns. They apparently thought concealed carriers were the greatest threat to our nation. They wanted to ban the tools that millions of Americans carry everyday to defend themselves and their families.
In recent years their aim has shifted towards banning semiautomatic rifles and their accessories. Somehow rifles and their parts are now the greatest threat to society.
The most obvious conclusion would be that they want to ban all firearms. In my opinion they appear to be opportunistic snakes in the grass. They don't go after the greatest threat but instead they go after the easiest prey. Whatever they can demonize the most at any given time is what they will push to be banned.
It's no coincidence that they are now targeting bump fire stocks. It is what they view as having the greatest odds of success. Most 2A supporters don't really care about them and the anti gun crowd have learned over the decades to follow the path of least resistance. History clearly shows that they will never stop trying to ban firearms in any form even if they do occasionally move the goal posts.

Did those papers belong to the previous owners of your home?

Re: The Target of Gun Control 30 Years Ago
Why does the typed signature say "Nelson Shields" and the signed one say "Pete Shields"?
Nelson died in 1993: http://www.nytimes.com/1993/01/27/ob...-advocate.html
Interesting...
Mr. Shields had been an executive of E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company for 26 years when his son, Nelson 4th, was shot and killed in San Francisco in 1975, a victim in a series of racially motivated killings of whites by four blacks that came to be known as the Zebra killings.Last edited by streaker69; October 17th, 2017 at 11:17 AM.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: The Target of Gun Control 30 Years Ago
I remember those days. Every concealable handgun was dubbed a "Saturday Night Special". They would display some POS wheel gun, and say it was designed to fire only a few rounds before it kaboomed. Then of course lumped every handgun, like all snubbies, into the same sentence. Imagine those dangerous j-frames owned by every LEO of the day being taken off the street. Same play book different cover.
