Ah the fun and games with shifters on the steering wheel! In the UK (I left in 1968) each major manufacturer used a different set up. GM (Vauxhall) had R & 1, then down for 2 & 3; Ford the reverse. The real fun came with Austin and then the Rootes Group. They had 4 on the stick forward and then reverse was wither pull knob and go up, or pull knob and go down. Made it "real fun" when you rented a car, trying to work out the gears without either ramming the front or back into the wall. Dave_n

    You win!

What trigger setup compares to the duplex or triplex gear boxes on the old Macks? Maybe firing two pistols, but using only your right hand.

Six vehicles, two motorcycles, and eight tractors on this property. All but one have a manual transmission (the F350 used to haul horse trailers). No auto, no hydrostatic, limited expense to fix!

I grew up with da/sa. My P239 is still my preferred carry after almost 20 years.

Using only your right hand you'd shift one stick at a time. I never drove a mack that had a throw short enough to go next gear on the main and back to low on the compound simultaneously with one hand. To do that I have to let go of the wheel and reach across with two hands. When you're empty or light just run it like a 5 speed.

Mostly Carry a Sig P228 or a P229. Being a lefty, I don't have to fiddle with a safety. I do have a 1911 that I sometimes carry as well but more for fancy occasions

My carry guns are a Ruger p-89, Ruger lcp and a Smith model 10-8. I don't drive and never have. I like DA/SA I have fired several striker fired pistols and they were fine but I like the long DA trigger pull for the first shot. With the bigger Ruger and the Smith I have the option of cocking the hammer.
