Default Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) Question

I have a question regarding DMAP harvest permits.

Can you fill a DMAP tag (anterless) during the first week of regular firearm season (Nov. 27-Dec 1)?

On page 38 of the 17-18 Hunting Trapping Digest, it states, "In WMUs where the firearms deer season is antlered only from Nov. 27-Dec. 1, DMAP permit holders may harvest antlerless deer on DMAP properties."

That statement seems pretty clear, but this is the first season I have a DMAP permit. I don't want to do something stupid like shoot a doe if it is not legal to do so.

Call your local PGC office for clarity.

Thanks, I already had that call in my plans. I was just wondering if anyone here had experience with DMAP permits. It's the first time I got one.

the tag clearly says it is a DMAP and this has been in place for a few years, slowly spreading to the whole state.

Prior to the changes thee were always DMAP permits available, they didn't start selling out until people learned you could shoot a doe during the first week with one.

I used to get mine to avoid playing the county treasurer lottery. Almost didn't get one this year!

Yes you can harvest anterless deer with a DMAP in DMAP zones that fall inside WMU's that otherwise do not allow anterless deer to be taken during the first five days of the regular firearms season.
