Re: Palmetto SA PA10 Gen2 initial thoughts
Thanks for the link, when I get a chance I’ll look up what those links are, the site doesn’t show what they are so I’m not going to spend money until I see the product.
I did jam a wedge in there, got it snuggled up.
For those that say it’s no big deal to have some slop, I disagree.
It shows poor quality control.
No other AR I have or any of those I looked at this weekend have a gap running the entire length of the upper/lower like this does.
A little rattle is one thing, seeing a gap running the entire length is another.
Just poor quality...

The upper or the lower (maybe even both) are probably out of tolerance. I doubt PSA would care but I would do my best to make them fix the junk they do put out.
I can't stand slop myself. That is why I have settled on just paying a little more for Mega Arms receivers. They machine their parts to a tighter tolerance than pretty much every other manufacturer and can actually hold the tolerance.

I too have enjoyed my PA10 and am currently working up AMax loads for it, already found an SST load it likes for hunting. The 6.5CM upper might be worth exploring next.

Re: Palmetto SA PA10 Gen2 initial thoughts
Short story.
When I went to boot camp my issue M-16 was like that. At the rifle range the DI's asked if any one was afraid of the rifle. I raised my hand. They asked " Why are you afraid of it?" I simply held my rifle above my head and slopped the upper and lower back and forth. They said "There's nothing wrong with that rifle! Anyone else?" I was high shooter for my series of 4 platoons with a 239 out of a possible 250 for qualification and shot a 242 and 243 in practice.
Upper to lower fit really doesn't have any effect on accuracy. We didn't have any 'wedges' and I didn't stick any earplugs in there to tighten things up.
