Open Carry at Hickory Falls Hanover asked to cover up.
On Columbus Day the family decided to go to Hickory Falls in Hanover it was pretty hot and steamy so was opening carrying, dressed nicely, leather thumb break holster. with my family-wife, two children. Was in there maybe 20-25 min buying rides, and such, then get in line with my son for the Go-Karts was in line even talked to one of the guys running the ride-not gun related, at this point at least 5-6 employees had to have seen my rig. Then the guy who was running it got off and a new kid came in, gave him my card to swipe for the rides, and his eyes drop. Then disappears after that-goes gets a manager. Manager comes out and asks if I mind covering up my firearm, I say I do, he kinda side steps that and says we fully accept your right to conceal carry and have no problem with that, but we ask you don't open carry as it can make customers nervous. I tell him its very hot and I did not bring a cover garment, he says if I could just pull my shirt over it, I wear my shirts tucked in. He was nice about everything not once did he say anything about me leaving, so I told him I would as I understand they have a business to run, and usually half the parking lot is full of MD cars, but I made it clear that if people don't ever see normal family people who carry guns everyday they are going to continue to think we-gun owners are all crazy mass shooter types. He thanked me and left, never saw him again.

At least he was nice about it and only asked you to cover it. I'm guessing he isn't an anti and was just trying to keep the peace.

I wonder if the Maryland folks made too much noise about it, and the owner calculated that more business would be lost if Marylanders decided to leave.

Just tell him you don’t have a license to carry so you can’t cover up.
Let's not forget there are still species of tropical penguins living in the Galapagos.

So in the end, you didn't cover or leave? I'd say you did good.

Re: Open Carry at Hickory Falls Hanover asked to cover up.
I did pull my shirt over, however my spare mag on the other side was still in plain view. As he never asked me to remove my firearm or leave I did not want to leave and upset the kids as his request was reasonable. I open carry about once a week or so during warmer weather months, and every time there is an incident somewhere-ie Vegas I feel like someone has to make a point, last week I saw a glock with a circle and line threw it sign, go up at a place I been going to for at least 3 years, was told someone new made a comment about firearms in the building. If people only knew how many CC everyday the public would be shocked if we all opened carry for 2 days in row.

Oddly, I've been in there numerous times open carrying and never had anyone complain except my wife.

Eh. You can tell when someone is asking you to cover up because it makes their customers nervous, versus it makes *them* nervous. If someone is just trying to protect the peace of mind of their customer base, I've come around to being willing to cover up, or in certain circumstances, carrying concealed altogether just to avoid the issue. I still open carry like a mofo whenever I am just out running errands or whatever.
