    Red face Duracoat 101

    OK,
Well i just ordered some duracoat I have been really eager to try the stuff out and give my ak a new professional coat. I got the "HK semi-gloss" and i ordered a airbrush, propellant, and pre-clean grease stripper.

I'm a artist so i have worked with a airbrush before so i know i can lay the paint down evenly.
What im currently interested in is there any "specific" thing i need to worry about in applying duracoat???
    Please school me!

I'd say just to clean it really good. Paint and oil don't mix well. Oh, and post some pics

Yeah, when i was reading their FAQ they strongly recomended using their own pre-cleaner to strop off the grease and dirt. I will post some pics in a week I chose the HK semi-gloss just so light can bring out the little details.

You may want to check out www.surplusrifle.com some of the guys over there are pretty familiar with duracoat. Ask over there, and I'm sure they'll be glad to help.

That stuff looks really neat. I think that might be just what i'm looking for to refinish my Enfield, and K98 Mauser, in terms of durability plus ease of use.

Atlantic Arms put duracoat finish on all of their products, and they make a point of mentioning it to. I just love to restore things

ok question, what would you recommend, or how would you recommend to plug the barrel for airbrushing?

When we use DuraCoat, we just plug the barrel with cleaning patches. or if youd rather, you can get bore plugs from Brownells. We use the bore plugs for parkerizing and they work great. In the Brownells catalog they are in with the Blueing and parkerizeing stuff. I'll see if I can get you the number.
