This course is more than just a basic overview of common law self-defense, but goes into specifics about Pennsylvania’s Justification statute and how our appellate courts have viewed various aspects of self-defense (such as reasonableness, preclusion, provocation, etc.) as well as what PA’s SYG and Castle Doctrines actually say and how they work. The law is put together with the psychological, physiological, and biomechanical realities of lethal encounters. This class was given on September 9th at West Shore and was fairly eye-opening for those who attended.

I’m an appellate criminal defense lawyer in York with a lot of firearms training and experience. Teaching with me is a trial criminal defense lawyer who provides a trial perspective. The goal of this class is to get you to not only understand the law, but the realities of violent encounters, and how to articulate signs of danger and your actions if you have to defend yourself.
