    Default Steel target recommendations

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place.

I am looking to get a steel torso target and possibly some gongs. 3/8" or 1/2" thick is what I'd be looking for. I would also need a 2x4 or 4x4 mount for the torso. I will build the stand myself.

What are some good places to purchase steel target(s) from? As always, local companies are preferred.

Check out Amazon. They also sell a great 2x4 holder that uses 3/4 steel pipe for legs. Buy the gong hangers also.

I'll second MGM but have other steel as well.

I tried to find out where I got the one on the left but can't find it online anywhere.

I put this together but it is a temporary stand just to go shoot.
Bottom one has a nice ring tone.

The 2 MGM speed plates are on the bottom right. The rest are mild steel from groupshoots in the past.

I like shooting steel targets. But besides the expense of the things, they're heavy to carry and at pistol ranges , bounce back and spraying fragments is always a possibility. Have you ever thought of the so-called self-healing targets? Is anyone using them? Here's Midway USA's offering. https://www.midwayusa.com/s?targetLo...ItemsPerPage=0

Thanks for the responses everyone. I think I'll order from shootsteel.

27- I saw your setup at the first group shoot this year. Very impressive.

I have won targets as door prizes from both Empty Clip Targets and GT targets. Both are PA companies and both offer a great product.

The targets we use at the Steel League are from GT. I can tell you they take a beating
