Yeah, well, just think of all the mass shootings these laws and court precedents and arrests prevent.

The only charge that would stick is failure to register your vehicle and switch the DL in 30 or 60 days (can't remember the time limit). Hopefully it's 60 and he moved in 59 or less before getting pinched!

Supposedly 60 days to surrender out of state license and aquire a PA DL. But 20 days to change vehicle registration to PA.

And, in my experience, it is impossible to change car registration without a PA driver's license it's actually 20 days to get both done.

Unless you hold a CDL, then you only have 30 days..

Just to follow up when the "friendly" question about guns knives bazookas drugs in a car is asked what is a proper response? "I refuse to answer the question" that'll invite a roadside argument Yes will get you pulled out of the car and handcuffed, No would be lying and it'll get you pulled out of the car and handcuffed for lying. Assuming I am all legal should I just hand him my LTCF and nod and smile or just invoke my fifth amendment rights and keep my mouth shut for the rest of the conversation? Seems like damned if you do damned if you don't scenario.

I am confused as to why he was arrested.

I was ISSUED my LTCF, using an out-of-state license as my ID, as I was not a PA resident at the time.

If I had been driving home after getting my LTCF, and stopped in Philly for some reason and was pulled over under the circumstances you describe, I would be arrested for giving my LTCF and out of state driver's license...which would make no sense.

In the situation you describe, the only real beef the cop should have is if he became a PA resident and failed to get a PA license....which doesn't strike me as an arrestable situation (maybe it is, I really don't know)....but that doesn't have anything to do with the LTCF or carrying a gun.

Lie. It's not a crime (unless it's a sworn statement). Or say nothing. Or ask (possibly again) why you were pulled over.

That was my thought as well. He hasn't done anything to be arrested for.

I understand it is a tough predicament, but when I find out someone is lying about something, I wonder what else they are lying about and why? So just keep that in mind if that is the course you decide
