Default Thread about how the NRA is selling us out

I believe this requires its own thread, so here it is:

I, like others, was initially, and in fact am still, exceedingly pissed off to learn this. However, I would encourage everyone who feels similarly to contact the NRA directly, and voice your displeasure. Saying 'fuck the NRA' is not doing us any favors. There is no alternative organization that is preserving our rights. When you say 'fuck the nra' the god damn liberals rejoice, and you know what... fuck the liberals.

As I posted to their statement on their FB page.

Unacceptable. I don't pay you to sell us out. I'm sure the politicians will do more than enough damage without the blessing of the NRA. Definitely no checks coming your way as I usually do when we have a fight ahead. I'll decide if my association with you is worth continuing over the next few weeks. For now, I'll see which organizations are actively defending our rights and ensure they receive the money I would have sent to you.

Is the NRA gambling that this sacrificial anode will distract the grabbers from wider reaching pushes? I just can't explain their reasoning unless this is part of a bigger strategy.

If they like to brag about 5 million members, why didn't they ask us what we thought first?

    GOA....

I know you're trying to help GOA... but claiming a slide stock is a device for barely-ambulatory people is a laugh and a half, even if it was successful.

How many bump fire mod videos on Youtube feature a cripple in a wheelchair bump firing?

Well this is frustrating. They just gave the antis a major argument.

Me: I don't think bump fires should be banned because (Shall not be infringed, does not make a difference.......hopefully some logical argument)"
Them "Even the NRA thinks they should be banned blah blah blah"
    Me: Well yeah but.................

Freaking gives them a major talking point. I'm not burning my NRA card because they are still important and I think we do need them, but this is close to putting them on par with Dicks and that Machine gun place. Supposed friends of the 2nd and "shall not be infringed" forgetting about the "shall not be infringed part.

I was also planning to send them money and was trying to figure out how to free up money to upgrade my lifetime membership. That money will go to another organization.

    NRA = Negotiating Rights Away

I stopped supporting them with my hard earned cash years ago.

did anyone really think there wasn't going to be some concession made after this?

at the end of the day, they (and we) will have to pick their battles. "bump stocks", or 30 round magazines? "gat cranks", or at platform rifles?

    does it suck? sure does.

is it the lesser of 2 evils?
there really is no winning on everything.

they managed to put the blame on chim chim, putting them (and, by default, us) in a slightly better position.

With this attitude we will eventually lose all our rights.
