Am I the only one who has never heard these devices called 'bump stocks' before this week? Are we all just adopting the media lingo now? Should I get some more high capacity clips for my assault weapon before they get banned?

I'm going to take your question at face value and reply in kind.
"Bump Stock" is a generic term that may or may not be what the industry has used to this point.- the most common brand name that *I* know is SlideFire. I actually give (very narrow) credit to the media for not calling out SlideFire by name.

I think there was a AK version from one manufacturer that was called the "Bumpski"?

Afaik they are bump-fire stocks. I have never heard anyone say bump stock before, and now that term is forever tainted to me, by goddamned feinstein.
