    Default Is that real?

Walking out of Kohls OCing Colt 1911 in a tan Galco thumb break.

Man behind me asks in a nice way, 'is that real'? I say yes, and he smiles and says I guess you have a license than. He then finished by joking and saying, I guess nobody is going to mess with you.

To the open carriers; how often do you get 'is that real?' I realize that I get asked that quite often. Why would someone think I'm carrying a fake pistol?

Yeah really. Before I learned of open carry I just assumed the few people I noticed doing so were law enforcement.

Just as an aside. I once saw someone ocing a bb-gun. I was never asked that question when I open carried.
    Some people just plain suck.

I have never got "is that real". I have gotten " I guess you have a license " before. I always explain Wisconsin is a Open carry state and no license is required. After hearing that I have gotten a couple of puzzled looks. Generally no one notices.
I always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.

Kinda like people looking at a clock and asking if that is the right time. All my clocks have the wrong time!
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise

I got asked that question one Halloween when I was carrying a ...

Ruger Vaquero dressed as a cowboy. The policeman at the parade didn't bat an eye, nor was I arrested for DC.

And before anyone even asks, I was not wearing ass-less chaps not a rainbow bandana!

I think it’s an ice breaker response to a situation the person is totally unprepared for.
