    Question Beretta Model 22A

I have a Beretta Bobcat 22 cal pistol I acquired many years ago, but have never really messed with. I recently bought an extra magazine for it and thought I would finally shoot it. I loaded up the magazine and tried to insert it into the pistol. It wouldn't seat all the way, sticking out about 3/16 ". I took all the rounds out, but one and still wouldn't seat. Empty mag will seat fine. Anyone have any thoughts on why I can't get the mag to seat ?? Oh, I tried the original magazine as well as the new one and they both did the same thing.

Did you try inserting the mag with the barrel tipped up?

Yes I did. As long as there is ammo in it, it's a no go.

Maybe try different ammo, just to be sure that's not the issue. Tip the barrel up and insert the mag while looking down through the grip. Maybe you can see the hang up. You could also see if there's something stopping it with the slide off, if that doesn't work.

Those don't really have much in the way in there. I've never messed with the 22a, but I have the Jetfire in .25 they are similar. Never experienced that problem though.

I have one and use CCI Minimags. The mag only holds seven rounds if memory serves plus one in the chamber. The need to be clean and may need a break in.

I tried it with a single round and it did the same thing. The ammo I have is CCI Stingers, I'll try something different and see if that makes a difference. I'll play with it some more when I get some time and see if I can figure out the problem. I have the exact same gun in .25 caliber and it functions flawlessly. Regarding the magazines I used, I tried the one it came with as well as the new one. They are identical and both did the same thing.

Try depressing the mag release while you're inserting the mag and see if the mag will go all the way in.
Also try inserting the mag with the action open and see if the mag will go all the way in.

If you were closer I'd say bring it by the shop.
