I guess I'll just get a soft case from Walmart while Im at it. I need one anyway. The large hard case I had ended up growing mold in the foam with my guns in it and I havn't got more foam for it to date.

I would expect all a cop to hear is whats in quotations...thats the point of the quotation marks I guess that flew over your head. Plenty of people have sat over night in county jails for things that were not illegal though. I just don't want to go to jail. Im to young and beautiful to survive a night in jail.

On the surface, they would seem to be the same, but FIREARM has a very specific legal definition. It was posted.
The SKS in regards to the "concealment" is NOT a firearm.

Stick around. You will learn. It can be overly complicated when it comes to the laws, but we'll steer you straight.
I already know the laws are a mess in PA let alone in the other Blue States. Which is why I pretty much always reference the NRA website but for obscure stuff like this they don't have much.

Think if I give him a handy in the bushes I will get a better price? Is that illegal though?

You're in State College. I'd think the odds of you ending up in jail are HIGHER if you go walking around town with a rifle slung over your shoulder, than walking around carrying it in a proper case......

Pretty sure the local cops have had run ins with people open carrying before and no ones arrested. So to say they probably know OC is legal. I can't say the same for concealed rifle situations.

So they know OC is legal, but they don't know what the definition of a firearm? Maybe you can ask them to cite the law that makes OC legal?
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Arguing law with a cop has probably never gotten anyone anywhere.

You're concerned that you may be hassled for carrying a cased long gun down the street, so instead you want to toss it over your shoulder so the police will leave you alone... Lol.

It's legal for me to wear spandex.... Doesn't mean I should.

It's legal for you to walk around with a rifle on your shoulder.... But
    Get a case or something.

Police are never going to leave you alone. If you give them an excuse or not they can use civil asset forefeiture and take everything they want to from you. USA! USA! USA!
Oh this is a gun forum, uhhhhhh it just depends which looks more suspicious which is based off of trends and opinions.

It's not necessarily what a cop is is going to think since it is unlikely you will pass one on the short trip home. People in houses? Driving by? What are they likely to call a person on? A guy carrying a case? Or a guy carrying a rifle. Just something to think about. Either is legal, but do you want to call attention to yourself or not? Do you want to give yourself the best chance of getting home unmolested or not? Your call but those are the options I see.

Jesus, enough with this "concealed rifle" nonsense, already.

I've never in my life heard anyone refer to it that way - because it's not.
    It's just a friggin' rifle in a case - it's not "concealed".

    LOOK! Concealed BOOLITS!

    Open carry BOOLITS!!!

    Just messin' with ya!
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
