Went out last night. Saw 5 doe and a nice 6pt buck...all out of range for a cross bow. A buddy tagged a doe on the same farm yesterday evening, which we processed last night.

    Going out again this evening.

1 doe too far away but probably would've passed anyway and a spike. Saw a coyote at 8 am slinking across my shooting lane but over 70 yards away. Would've taken it during rifle season.

Had the outdoor fire place kicking Saturday night for an all around awesome day.

I look forward to contributions to this thread because I'm 3 weeks post op from rotator cuff surgery and will miss the entire season. This after a storm put a tree across my power line while on vacation in Texas, and lost last years two deer that were in the freezer. Thank God for vacuum packing! But won't have an opportunity to fill the freezer again until WV in Nov. Ugh.....

Spend all day in the woods yesterday with the flintlock
The area I was hunting was loaded with rubs and scrapes.....which doesn't help when early muzzleloader is does only. I considered going back to the truck and exchanging the smokepole for my crossbow. Saw nothing all day except for squirrels until around 5 a doe came. I lined up the sights and was preparing to drop the hammer when.....what's that next to her ear? A spike! Grrrrrr....

Started hunting on the 16th, I've seen deer every time I've been out, but no legal buck within shooting range. So far I've had 1 nice buck cruise by at 50 yards and then a spike, as well as multiple doe each time. The heat here in SWPA is making it difficult, I haven't found an active scrape or even an active rub line yet. I think EHD hit them fairly hard here, looking at my journal, last year in the same stand in the same time of year I was seeing many, many more deer overall.
I'm working until the 27th, on a little trip with the wife the 27th-30th, then off work for two weeks, so I've got a lot of hours left in stand.

Sorry to read all the posts about people not being able to get out and after it this year. I'll start taking some pictures and posting regularly, maybe it'll help cure some of that cabin fever.

    Good luck everyone!

No hunting for me yet.. still cutting firewood for next year every free moment.
Have seen some nice rubs, and lots of Doe.. No bucks seen near the house yet.

Wonder if I can let the log splitter sit and idle while hunting because the deer sure like to come for a look
